UPMC Pinnacle Memorial Sponsors Central Market York’s Rojahn Performance Kitchen

UPMC Pinnacle Memorial has partnered with Central Market York as the presenting sponsor of the Rojahn Performance Kitchen.  Through the partnership, Memorial will offer nutrition programs and cooking demonstrations focused on healthy living and making good food choices.

“We are pleased to continue UPMC Pinnacle Memorial’s legacy of civic participation right here in the York community by becoming a presenting sponsor of Central Market’s Performance Kitchen,” said Sally J. Dixon, UPMC Pinnacle Memorial President.  “We are committed to the communities in which we operate and the partnership between our two organizations is a natural fit.”

Last year, Memorial began presenting free cooking demonstrations at the Performance Kitchen led by a registered dietitian.  The demonstrations focused on how to make healthy dishes, including for specific diets such as diabetic-friendly or heart-healthy.  With many fresh ingredients available from Central Market vendors year-round, cooking demonstration attendees can learn how to make a healthy dish and pick up everything they need to make it at home.

In addition to Memorial’s activities, sponsorship of the Performance Kitchen enables Central Market York to continue to make the space available to the community for other organizations to use.

“We are delighted to have UPMC Pinnacle Memorial as a corporate sponsor of our Performance Kitchen,” said Cindy Steele, Central Market York Chief Operating Officer. “UPMC Pinnacle has been a great partner this year and with the recent agreement we look forward to only strengthening that partnership.”

Central Market York features more than 50 farmers, retailers and restaurants and is open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in Historic Downtown York.  To announce the partnership, UPMC Pinnacle Memorial held a cooking demonstration in the Performance Kitchen on Saturday, December 2 featuring delicious and healthy recipes that put a twist on festive, holiday side dishes.  The demonstration was part of an afternoon of activities at Central Market York and the downtown area that capped off with the tree lighting on York’s Continental Square.
