A Walk in the Park

Most everyone knows that physical activity is part of a healthy lifestyle, but according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), less than half of all adults get enough aerobic physical activity to improve their health.

People who are physically active can live longer and have a lower risk for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, and some cancers.  The CDC recommends that adults get at least 2 and 1/2 hours of physical activity each week.

Our busy schedules can sometimes make finding ways to get physical activity a challenge. UPMC Pinnacle Memorial wants to help you take the next step by inviting you to join us for a weekly 30-minute walk from now through the end of October.

Walks will be held every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Cousler Park in York.  A different health professional from UPMC Pinnacle Memorial, such as a dietitian, pharmacist, or diabetes educator, will lead the walk each week.  They will talk about their field of expertise and give you an opportunity to ask questions.

WHEN:           Every Thursday

5:30 p.m.

April to October

WHERE:         Cousler Park

1060 Church Road

York, PA 17404

Walkers will meet at Pavilion C and will follow the 1.5-mile path in the park.  There is no cost to participate and the weekly walk will be canceled if it is raining.
