Nuclear medicine techniques are applied for the diagnosis, management, therapy and prevention of many serious diseases. A small amount of radioactive material is injected, swallowed or inhaled to allow scans to be taken by camera.
Memorial Hospital’s Nuclear Medicine Department serves both inpatients and outpatients on weekdays and emergency procedures are available 24-hours-a-day. All services are provided by certified nuclear medicine technologists.
Memorial Hospital’s Nuclear Medicine Department offers a new, state-of-the-art positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) system, which provides early and highly accurate detection of cancer. PET/CT scans are available every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
